To work as a Vehicle Mechanic in Qatar

General Description

The position involves carrying out vehicle mechanical maintenance on the American military vehicle named the Stryker. Duties will include engine strip downs, gearbox overhauls, general maintenance, servicing and carrying out battle damage maintenance.

To carry out a level 30 check you need to have a high level knowledge of Vehicle maintenance as these checks will involve major components being replaced and repaired. These repairs will include engine and gearbox separation, replacing component parts, changing rear fenders and major body panels.

Although the vehicle involved is specifically the eight wheeled all terrain Stryker. A good knowledge of vehicle maintenance, usually gained through either theoretical studies (C&G, N.V.Q,) or roughly 5 years shop floor experience in a Garage carrying out similar work on general vehicles would be sufficient.

Duration of contract
Our contracts are generally of a six months nature, this however can be either shorter or longer due to the nature of our customers requirements.

Accommodation and food
The accommodation for this particular contract is provided by the customer, Generally this will be in either in your own apartment or sharing with other contractors in a two or three bedroom apartment. Your travel arrangements are also provided in the form of a bus that will take you to and from the contract each day. Transport out side of work and food and drink is to be at the contractors expense, to assist in any issues whilst on the contract we have a welfare officer in Qatar.

How you will be paid
Although your contract will state your hourly wage in Dollars, you will actually be paid weekly in sterling into a British bank account. The exchange rate used is reviewed by the M&E Group on a regular basis.

Tax and national Insurance
As an overseas worker you will receive a Tax and NI dispensation, this however varies between each contract and would be discussed with you by the recruitment department.
